SGK presented the results of large-scale work to reduce the burden on the environment in the Krasnoyarsk Territory

General Director of the Yenisei TGC (a division of the Siberian Generating Company in the Yenisei Siberia region) Oleg Bubnovsky, at a meeting of the Public Expert Council on Environmental Issues under the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, reported on the implementation of a program to reduce the burden on the environment.

Since 2018, the Company’s investments in environmental projects in the region have exceeded 61 billion rubles.

The event, chaired by the head of the region, Mikhail Kotyukov, was attended by members of the regional government, representatives of supervisory authorities, the scientific community and major industrial enterprises.

A large-scale upgrade of SGC capacities became possible thanks to government support. Key projects, including the construction of the second power unit of CHPP-3 and the modernization of Krasnoyarsk CHPP-1, were developed after the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Krasnoyarsk in February 2018.

As part of the implementation of the environmental program, SGK at the Krasnoyarsk CHPP-1 commissioned 13 out of 15 modern electric precipitators with a gas purification efficiency of over 99%. The remaining two units will be launched in the middle of this year. To effectively disperse gaseous emissions and reduce their ground concentration, a new chimney with a height of 275 meters was built. Upon completion of the program, particulate matter emissions from the plant will be reduced by 80%.

At Krasnoyarsk CHPP-3, together with the new power unit, a high-tech electric precipitator with a purification degree of 99.7% was launched, and the introduction of dry ash removal technology made it possible to abandon the expansion of the ash dump area.

All SGC stations today are equipped with automatic emission control systems. Sensors installed at an altitude of 85–100 meters transmit data in real time to the company’s website. The monitoring system has been tested and officially accepted by Rosprirodnadzor.

“The environmental agenda today is a prerequisite for industrial development. SGC faces a complex task: to guarantee absolute reliability of heat supply in Siberian winters and at the same time radically reduce the impact on the ecosystem. Our strategy is based on five principles: the implementation of the best available technologies (BAT), effective centralization of the system, digital data transparency, the absolute priority of reliability and the formation of an ecosystem outside the production site,” said Oleg Bubnovsky.

An important area of SGC's environmental program was the replacement of inefficient boiler houses. The closure of 37 such facilities, combined with the modernization of thermal power plants, made it possible to reduce the volume of emissions into the atmosphere of Krasnoyarsk by 8,700 tons per year.

In parallel, SGK supports the project of transferring the private sector to electric heating. Since 2021, more than 700 households have switched to this type of heating, reducing emissions by 2,320 tons per year. At the same time, the company maintains a preferential, subsidized electricity tariff for residents.

“As a result of joint work, emissions in Krasnoyarsk have already been reduced by more than 13 percent. By the end of 2026, this figure should be no less than 20 percent. Large enterprises, aware of their responsibility, are preparing additional plans for the deep modernization of production. We are in constant dialogue,” emphasized Mikhail Kotyukov, Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
