In spring, many people notice that anthurium does not look as bright as before. After winter, the plant is often weakened: there was little light, the air in the apartment was dry due to heating. Leaves may turn pale and flowering may be delayed. During this period, anthurium is helped by simple feeding, which supports the growth and formation of buds.
One of the available options is wood ash solution. This method is often used by gardeners because the ash contains elements beneficial to plants. It contains potassium, calcium and phosphorus. These substances are involved in the formation of buds and help the plant bloom more actively.
Preparing the fertilizer is simple. Add 1 tablespoon of wood ash to a liter of warm water and stir well. The solution is used to water the plant.
Before fertilizing, it is better to lightly moisten the soil with plain water. Then the anthurium is watered with the prepared solution, as with normal watering.
This feeding is usually applied approximately once every two weeks during the period of active growth – in spring and summer. Over time, the plant begins to produce new leaves and flower stalks.
It is important to use only pure wood ash without impurities. Ash from painted or treated boards is not suitable for plants.
With proper care, anthurium gradually recovers after winter and begins to delight with brighter and longer flowering. Sometimes a simple feeding of ordinary ash is really enough to support the plant.
