Evacuation of Poles from the Middle East. Donald Tusk sent a request to the president


Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that he had decided to use military aircraft to support the evacuation of Poles from the Middle East. As the head of government said on the X platform, an appropriate application has already been sent to President Karol Nawrocki. According to the regulations, the use of the army outside the country's borders is decided by the resident at the request of the government.
The president said on Wednesday that he would support Prime Minister Donald Tusk's motion. Karol Nawrocki was asked about this during Wednesday's press conference after a meeting with the President of the NBP, Adam Glapiński.
Earlier, during Wednesday's press briefing, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz assured readiness of the Polish Army to conduct medical evacuation for citizens requiring assistance. The minister also emphasized that the evacuation of the remaining Poles was carried out using civilian transport.

Evacuation of Poles. Flights from Oman to Poland
Tusk announced earlier on Wednesday that a plane sent for Poles requiring medical assistance was to land in Oman within a dozen or so hours.
Minister of Sport and Tourism Jakub Rutnicki said that since Tuesday, 574 Polish citizens have returned to Poland from the Middle East.
The current situation in the Middle East and the return flights of Polish citizens from Oman to Poland were the subject of Wednesday's telephone conversation between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski, and his Omani counterpart, Badr al-Busaidi.

Two planes will fly to the Middle East for the Poles on Friday
On Friday, two special Boeing-737 planes with a military crew will begin an evacuation mission of Poles from the Middle East, said the Deputy Prime Minister and the head of the Ministry of National Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. He added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported over 100 people who need medical support.
The United States and Israel attacked Iran on Saturday, February 28, killing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior officials. In retaliation, Tehran launched attacks, including: on US bases in the region, resulting in many airlines canceling their flights in the region.
