In Achinsk, the widow of a WWII participant for a long time could not get money to buy an apartment

In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the court, at the request of the prosecutor's office, ordered the municipality to provide housing to the widow of a WWII participant.

The prosecutor's office conducted an investigation in the interests of a 97-year-old resident of Achinsk, the widow of a WWII participant, who has been living without her own home for many years. Once she moved to Achinsk with her seriously ill veteran husband, cared for him until his last days, and then, after the sale and exchange of apartments, she was left without her own corner.

After the death of her husband, the elderly woman wandered between relatives for many years: first she lived with one granddaughter, then with another. Now, being a disabled person of group II and having suffered a hip fracture, she practically does not walk and needs constant care. In addition to the owner, an adult man and a child live in the granddaughter’s 2-room apartment, where she is registered. The widow herself uses only the space allocated to her and lives off her own pension, without maintaining a common household with her granddaughter.

“In 2025, the court already recognized the elderly woman’s right to receive a certificate as a family member of a WWII participant, and she was also registered as in need of improved living conditions. However, the regional department of social policy refused to provide her with a one-time payment, formally citing the fact that, according to registration, the area per resident exceeds the accounting norm,” the press service of the supervisory agency reported.

The prosecutor did not agree with this approach and filed a lawsuit in the interests of the widow. The court concluded that the refusal to provide social support was not based on the law, and that the applicant really needed housing and had not previously exercised her right to it.

The decision was immediately enforced, and the woman finally received the right to payment.
