According to Shmygal, the reservoir affected by the attack is the largest in Europe and has a volume of 75 thousand m³. At the time of the impact, it contained about 25 thousand m³ of oil.
The minister also informed that in order to avoid a large-scale man-made and environmental disaster, some of the oil was pumped into pipes during the fire.
“Accordingly, the oil was actually in a boiling state. Most of the internal equipment of this oil pipeline, sensors, and various other equipment inside the oil pipeline were damaged by the temperature regime,” Shmygal said.
According to him, damage to internal equipment due to high temperatures is significant, although it is not visible from the outside.
At present, defect detection is ongoing, upon completion of which the estimate, time frame and resources necessary for the full resumption of operation of the facility will be determined, the minister noted.
