

“During the attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Rostov-on-Don, the oil tanker Valery Gorchakov was damaged, the cook and mechanic were killed. Then the tanker began to go under water,” the media writes.
According to him, as a result of the impact on the stern of the tanker, in particular, the wheelhouse and hull were damaged, holes were formed in the engine and tiller rooms, and a fire broke out.
Astra draws attention to the fact that the Valery Gorchakov is under sanctions from the United States, the European Union, Great Britain, Canada and Switzerland, and at the time of the attack the ship was near an oil products transshipment terminal.
According to the VesselFinder service, the tanker was built in 1969 and flew the flags of Cambodia, St. Kitts and Nevis, and the Russian flag was hung on it in 2016.
