According to the trainer, it is useful to take a nap before training. The optimal duration is 15-25 minutes. The main thing is not to overdo it: if you go into a deep phase, there is a risk of waking up exhausted. Vakulina advises not to be a hero and if you are very tired, it is better to sleep for 20 minutes than to go to class without strength.
The regime is no less important. The expert recommends going to bed no later than 23:00 and sleeping until 07:00. Even eight hours of sleep, but falling asleep at two in the morning, will not provide the same recovery as a shorter, but earlier sleep.
The trainer paid special attention to the connection between sleep and training. According to her, they work in tandem: with a lack of sleep, hormonal balance is disrupted, cortisol increases, appetite and cravings for sweets increase, and protein synthesis slows down. As a result, muscles, ligaments and joints do not have time to recover, progress stops, and the risk of injury increases.
If a person sleeps too much, this is a signal of high stress or accumulated fatigue. The main rule, according to the expert, is balance and regularity both in sleep and in training.
