The governor of the region, Mikhail Kotyukov, held the first working meeting with Sergei Vereshchagin after he assumed the post of head of the Krasnoyarsk urban district. The priority tasks for the development of the territory were discussed there.

The head of the region emphasized that now the new mayor needs to focus on areas where it is important to respond quickly: this is the maintenance of roads, stable operation of public transport, utilities, social institutions and timely garbage collection, especially in frosty conditions. Kotyukov instructed Vereshchagin to keep the situation under personal control, and also noted that the main thing in this work is constant dialogue with residents, regular meetings, feedback, readiness to hear and respond to people’s suggestions.
The mayor agreed with the governor and promised to pay special attention to key problems and issues.
“The most important task is to improve the quality of street cleaning. I regularly drive through the city, equipment and crews are working. But at the same time I see that changes are needed. This year, with your support, we will purchase 50 units of special cleaning equipment. Let's evaluate what else is needed to improve quality. I plan to go to a specialized enterprise in the near future to analyze existing technologies and resources,” said Sergei Vereshchagin. — The absolute priority is working with people’s requests. I receive a lot of questions through social networks, the services answer them. I plan to hold regular personal receptions for citizens and open meetings in city districts. It is important to hear residents – this will allow you to prioritize work. We will strive to ensure that citizens have access to services and opportunities anywhere in greater Krasnoyarsk.”
The governor added that in the very near future the new head of Krasnoyarsk should form his own team and build a clear management system:
“I see that you are actively involved in the work process. I am sure that your experience at the federal and regional levels will help you. Now it is necessary, in the shortest possible time, to form a municipal team of people who must not only professionally perform their official duties, but also be effective and decent managers.”
During the meeting, the parties also discussed preparations for the 400th anniversary of Krasnoyarsk. The governor emphasized that it is important to complete design work in the first months in order to further work with federal ministries within the framework of budget procedures. “The Krasnoyarsk team is part of the regional team, so I believe that we should act as jointly as possible, solving issues in the field of economics, development of social projects, ecology and functioning of urban infrastructure. Our task is to make the regional center a modern, comfortable city where you want to live, which is attractive to young people,” said the head of the region. At the same time, he noted that after the transition to a new system of local self-government, the area of Krasnoyarsk expanded significantly due to nearby settlements, which now require the same close attention from the city leadership as the regional center.
