In the days since the U.S. Supreme Court declared most of President Donald Trump's global tariffs illegal, more than 100 companies have filed new lawsuits, underscoring widespread concerns that the administration will not easily repay the billions of dollars it has already collected.

Public companies and well-known brands are joining the lawsuits. FedEx filed the lawsuit on Monday, followed by Dyson, Dollar General, Bausch & Lomb, Brooks Brothers and Sol de Janeiro USA.
Branches of cosmetics giant L'Oreal and shoe companies On Holding AG and Skechers USA also filed a lawsuit to recover import fees.

The Supreme Court did not take a position on the issue of possible refunds, leaving it to the United States Court of International Trade in New York. The Justice Department is expected to comment on next steps, which could indicate how quickly — or slowly — the government is willing to act to resolve the mounting claims.
Trump suggested that his administration might oppose refunds, or at least not make the process easier for importers who have paid more than $170 billion. customs duties in the last 10 months.
“I think this case has to go to court,” the president said after the Feb. 20 ruling, speculating that it could take years to resolve.

According to a Bloomberg News analysis, the latest cases bring the total number of tariff lawsuits to more than 2,000. That's already a huge number of cases for the trade court to hear, and it represents only a small fraction of the hundreds of thousands of importers who paid the tariffs that the judges struck down.
In a statement, FedEx said it had “taken the necessary actions to protect the company's rights” following the Supreme Court's ruling. “If FedEx receives a refund, we will refund it to shippers and consumers who originally incurred these fees.”
