A monument to the deceased polar bear Dixon from the Krasnoyarsk Territory was unveiled in Moscow (video)

A monument was erected at the Moscow Zoo in honor of the Dixon bear caught in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. This was announced by the general director of the institution, Svetlana Akulova.

Let us remind you that at the end of August 2022, a polar bear with serious injuries came to the village of Dikson. To treat it first delivered to Norilskand then transported to the Moscow Zoo. Doctors found entrance holes of different diameters on the animal’s body. According to the doctor, the bear was shot with homemade buckshot.

Zoologists decided to take him to Moscow. The whole country fought for the life of the predator – millions of people followed his story on social networks. Despite the efforts of doctors, in September 2023 Dixon died in a dream from acute cardiopulmonary failure. According to veterinarians, his condition worsened due to the progression of spinal cord lesions, as well as secondary urinary and respiratory tract infections.

Now, opposite the enclosure with polar bears, there is a monument to the deceased Dixon.

“This monument is not just an art object. This is our common “we have not forgotten you.” This is a sign of gratitude for the incredible power of life that Dixon gave to each of us,” Akulova wrote.

She thanked the sculptors, patrons, volunteers and the entire zoo team who helped bring the idea to life.
