Hair stylist Anastasia Prikhodko revealed in her personal Telegram channel (18+) why gray hair should not be pulled out, even in isolated cases.
Unfortunately, many people fall into this bad habit so that they don’t have to dye their entire parting because of the rare glimpses of “silver.” But the fact is that gray hair is not sick, so it “sits” in the head just as firmly as healthy hair. This means that if you pull it sharply, you can injure the hair follicle.
Why is this dangerous?
Traumatization of the follicles increases the risk of hair thinning, which can, in turn, lead to total baldness. In addition, painful inflammation may occur and subsequently scars may appear on the skin.
Moreover, there is no benefit from this: gray hair has grown and will continue to grow, because this is a natural and irreversible process. But pulling it out can only make it worse, and even form an unhealthy psychological habit – trichotillomania. This is about pulling out hair on the head and body, eyebrow hairs and eyelashes.
The expert concluded that you need to treat yourself with care, because at the age of 80 you will have to fight for every hair.
