A club for troubled teenagers “Cybercat” has opened in Krasnoyarsk

The Krasnoyarsk volunteer center “Good Deed” has opened a public space for teenagers called “Cybercat”.
The club is located in the building at 149 Ada Lebedeva Street. Within the walls of the updated volunteer center, troubled teenagers from 14 to 18 years old can do homework, communicate, play board, computer and video games in an informal setting. There is also a food court with hot tea and sweets for them.
Children can do homework on computers at any time, but play only from 16:00 to 18:00. But admission to entertainment must be earned through good deeds. This includes helping older people, social institutions, or participating in organizing events.
“The idea is not to give teenagers free access to computer games, but to give them extra motivation to do good things. After all, we primarily work with children who are at risk and are registered with the commission on juvenile affairs. And not everyone has a new generation computer at home. Our gaming hours are awarded at a ratio of 2/1. So, for example, for 1 hour of volunteering, a teenager can get 2 hours at the console,” explained the head of the Cyberkot club, Yakov Nenartovich.
Activists of the city head's labor detachment can also use computers in the club. True, for them the exchange of work hours for play hours is already in the ratio 1/1. In this way, specialists include teenagers in social work and introduce children into the social policy of Krasnoyarsk.
Young Krasnoyarsk resident Liliya learned about the opening of the “Cybercat” club from her class teacher and she contacted the “Good Deed” volunteer center. During her membership in the club, the schoolgirl managed to do many useful things:
“I really like it here! It’s not always possible to gather friends at home, but here you can chat with peers, drink tea, and play all sorts of games. At the same time, we are not just having fun, but doing something useful. I help animals, just recently the guys and I went to the shelter, delivered food, helped clean out the dog enclosures,” Lilia shared.
A psychologist works within the walls of the volunteer center. Not only teenagers, but also their parents who need help strengthening parent-child relationships or advice on finding a common language with their child can turn to him.
Specialists also provide children with opportunities for self-realization in various areas – educational, social and creative:
“Our main goal is to get young people out of the house, to force young people to communicate with each other. And we see that it really works. The guys themselves come to us, and not just like that, but with some interesting initiatives. They want to express themselves, to show what they are worth. And we, in turn, help them with this. We provide resource, information and administrative support. So, relatively recently, a theater community was formed on the basis of our volunteer center. The guys themselves write scripts, make productions and perform performances in various social institutions, in boarding houses for the elderly,” said Natalia Khromykh, director of the Good Deed volunteer center.
