“If they really want to stop [нелегитимного президента РФ Владимира] Putin, America is strong enough,” he said.
When asked whether he believed that US President Donald Trump was putting enough pressure on Putin, Zelensky replied “no.”
“Putin is a war. It’s all about him. It’s all about one person. And the country, his whole country is in prison,” says the Ukrainian leader.
In an interview, he admits that Ukrainians are exhausted from the fight against the occupiers, but it is simply impossible to give in to Putin’s demands.
“We can’t just give him everything he wants. Because he wants to occupy us. If we give him everything he wants, we will lose everything – all of us people will be forced to flee or become Russian,” Zelensky is sure.
He emphasized that for potential peace with the Russian Federation, security guarantees for Ukraine must first be agreed upon and ratified by the US Congress. This will give the Ukrainian people confidence that they can rely on their allies in the future, because they have been let down too many times in the past, the president added.
