Slovakia will suspend energy supplies to Ukraine. The Prime Minister issued a statement

— If the president of Ukraine suggests to us that we should buy gas and oil somewhere other than Russia, even though it is more difficult and expensive and we are losing a lot of money, we have the right to respond, Fico said in the recording.
The Prime Minister also stated that it is sad that the European Union puts Ukraine's interests ahead of the interests of its member states.
Why is Slovakia suspending energy supplies to Ukraine?
What did Prime Minister Robert Fico say about energy supplies?
What are the reasons for the interruption of energy supplies according to Fico?
What are the current measures taken by the Slovak government in the oil sector?
— Mistrust towards the EU is growing at a brutal pace and will result in the EU being unable to make important decisions that require the consent of all EU member states, Fico said, adding that the problem will be approving another package of sanctions against Russia, agreeing at the next summit on measures to support EU competitiveness and on how to reduce electricity prices.
The Prime Minister also stated that any peace agreements regarding the conflict in Ukraine must be adopted only with the full participation of Ukraine. Fico stated that he did not want the country to share the fate of Czechoslovakia in 1938. However, according to him, Europe bears the entire burden of the war in Ukraine, which, as he added, is madness in the current economic situation.
The Prime Minister of Slovakia recalled the words of Chancellor Merz
He also mentioned the words of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz that Europe must ensure that Russia is no longer able to wage war, either militarily or economically.
— The German Federal Chancellor's statements clearly show that military support for Ukraine will continue at all costs, regardless of Ukraine's clear military defeats, regardless of the fact that this conflict has no military solution, he said.
The only Slovnaft refinery located in Slovakia and owned by the Hungarian concern MOL is operating thanks to the release of strategic reserves by the government. The government declared a state of emergency in the oil sector.
Fico accuses Zelensky of deliberately suspending deliveries of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline, which is allegedly related to the elections in Hungary. A pipeline near a compressor station in Brody, Ukraine, was destroyed during a Russian airstrike in late January this year. The Prime Minister, citing intelligence sources, maintains that he could resume normal work.
