The US Secret Service announced on Sunday that its agents killed a man in his 20s who had tried to illegally enter a secure perimeter at Mar-a-Lago, the residence of US President Donald Trump in West Palm Beach, Florida, according to Reuters and The Telegraph.

The Secret Service said the incident happened overnight. The person in question was spotted near the north entrance and was carrying what appeared to be a shotgun and a fuel canister, according to Fox News.

No Secret Service or Palm Beach County officials were injured in the incident.

Officials stated that at the time of the incident, none of the people who benefit from the protection of the Secret Service were present at the property. Trump is currently in Washington.

Donald Trump has been the target of two assassination attempts during the 2024 election campaign. On July 13, the Republican was shot in the ear during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, after which the Secret Service killed the attacker.

Two months later, on September 14, Trump and Steve Witkoff were playing golf in West Palm Beach when an individual armed with an AK-47 was spotted just a few hundred yards away. Ryan Routh was sentenced to life in prison for attempting to assassinate Trump in February 2026, according to the BBC.
