Sanctions imposed on Moscow are inhibiting the development of good economic and trade relations between the United States and Russia, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday, according to Russian news agencies, citing Reuters.
“Sanctions, which we naturally consider illegal, inhibit the proper functioning of trade and economic relations between Russia and the US. It is in our interest to develop them,” Peskov told Russian journalists.
“Many projects can be included on the agenda, but for this we need to revive our relations,” the Kremlin representative added.
Earlier this month, in an interview with Russia Today, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused European leaders of trying to “sabotage” the negotiations taking shape between Russia and the US regarding Ukraine. “All they are doing now is to prevent and sabotage the negotiations that have taken shape between us and the Americans,” Lavrov said.
On Wednesday, the Ukrainians and Russians ended the round of negotiations organized in Geneva, with American mediation, without concrete results, but with the promise to resume the talks.
