The first solar eclipse of 2026, which occurred on February 17, went unnoticed by the residents of Russia.

As reported by the Ural Meridian news agency with reference to the Planetarium Educational and Scientific Center at SSUGiT, the eclipse streak passed over Antarctica.

Partial phases could only be observed by researchers in Antarctica, residents of southern Africa, the extreme point of South America, and those who were in the southern regions of the oceans.

The eclipse began at 12:56 Moscow time, reached its peak at 15:12, and ended at 17:27. The moon covered about 96% of the solar disk.
