The Krasnoyarsk Union of Northern Military District Veterans told the story of Ekaterina Shibakova, who volunteered for a special military operation.

Until June 23, 2023, she worked as a nurse in the cardiology department of city hospital No. 20. At the front, Ekaterina received the call sign “Rodnaya”. Under fire, risking herself, she pulled out the wounded and did everything possible to save their lives.

On October 23, 2023, during a tank shelling, Ekaterina was seriously wounded, was shell-shocked twice and spent several months in a hospital in Yaroslavl. For her courage and heroism, she was awarded the Order of Courage and the Suvorov Medal, and in February 2024 she was awarded the rank of corporal.

The fateful meeting took place in the hospital. Her future husband, call sign Gelish, first saw Ekaterina via video call when she was communicating with her colleagues. “I called up the guys from the squad, wrote to each other, they asked how I was doing. My big friendly family remained there,” recalls Ekaterina. “He saw me on a video call and immediately said that I would be his wife.”

For two months the fighter persistently sought her affection, and his sincerity melted the girl’s heart. “I saw her and decided that this girl would be my wife. The decision was made instantly,” says Gelish himself. The couple got married in Lugansk on March 23, 2024, and got married in Berezovka in June. We chose a maternity hospital in Sosnovoborsk for the birth of our son. The baby was born on June 19, weighing 3940 grams and 54 centimeters tall.

In honor of the birth of his son, Gelish was given 30 days of leave from the front line. Having met the baby, the fighter could hardly hold back his tears. Now Ekaterina is waiting for her husband to come home and is raising her son.
