NATO begins large exercises on the eastern flank. Will test an important system
Radio ERR emphasizes that for the first time as part of the “Hedgehog” maneuvers, the 4th British brigade, located last year as part of NATO to maintain readiness in Estonia and strengthen the defense of the eastern flank, will be fully integrated with the Estonian division.
In mid -May, the armed forces along with other rescue services will test the warning system throughout the country, including alarm sirens. The action, as part of which sirens will overstate in over 20 cities, and the signal is to reach about 65 percent. society, will be carried out for the first time.
The name of the “hedgehog” exercises, which refers to “Jeż” has been used since 2008. According to the command of the Estonian army, the name has symbolic significance, because Little Estonia, like a small hedgehog, must be prepared to defend against greater threats, revealing spikes in the face of danger. This year's maneuvers will last until May 23.
