Salary increases, a transparent policy of employment and promotion to managerial and expert positions – these are the demands of “Solidarity” operating at the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW). Trade unionists also expect the recently dismissed union president, Agnieszka Harasimowicz, to be reinstated. In their opinion, in the event of refusal, a strike by employees of this institution is possible – reports Tysol.pl.

There has been a conflict between employees and the IMWM management since the end of January. Activists of the factory “Solidarity” accuse the management of a lack of dialogue, hindering the organization's activities and the illegal dismissal of the chairman, Agnieszka Harasimowicz, during an ongoing collective dispute.
Open conflict and lack of dialogue
According to Agnieszka Harasimowicz, this is an unprecedented situation, because for a long time no IMWM director has allowed himself to enter into such an open conflict with trade unions, nor has he stubbornly avoided dialogue with the social side.
– For over a year, our director has not entered into any talks with us. Most importantly, no director after 1989 allowed himself to dismiss a particularly protected Solidarity activist. This director dismissed the chairperson of the company's organization, i.e. me, for disciplinary reasons. We treat this dismissal as retaliation for our previous statements and reported irregularities in the management of the company – says Agnieszka Harasimowicz, quoted by tysol.pl
Earnings increased everywhere, except at IMWM
Trade unionists expect an increase in the basic salary of all employees by PLN 1,800 gross. As they claim, the average salary in the national economy has increased by PLN 3,200 over the last five years, and in the institute by only about PLN 1,350. According to representatives of “Solidarity”, IMWM also violated the law by appointing a person as deputy director who had already held a similar position in a competitive institution.
Will they hold a strike referendum at IMWM?
Trade unionists warn that if it is still not possible to establish a dialogue with the institute's management, a strike referendum will be held, followed by a possible strike. They also asked the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Prime Minister to deal with the conflict. The plan also includes notifying the National Labor Inspectorate with a request to carry out an inspection at the institute.
Meanwhile According to the IMWM management, the actions of “Solidarity” bear all the hallmarks of exerting direct pressure.and, not the actual will to conduct social dialogue. However, the actions announced by the union have no formal and legal basis. It was also admitted that the management is open to dialogue with the social side.
