Wage increases of PLN 1,000 gross, improved working conditions, among others. by increasing the number of employees in stores, changes in the bonus system and ending work at a maximum at 22 are the main demands of trade unionists operating in Biedronka. It was on this matter that they met with the management board of the network in Warsaw.

Another meeting in March?

Meanwhile, the first negotiations as part of the collective dispute between trade union representatives and the network's management ended without an agreement.

– We have presented our demands, but so far to no avail. Now their move – says Gabriela Kaim, chairwoman of “Solidarity” operating in Biedronka, to Bankier.pl. – We hope that constructive talks will take place and an agreement will be signed. We are waiting for the date of the next meeting, which is to be held in March.

Biedronka is making money, but the crew's income is falling

According to trade unionists, last year was extremely profitable for the owner of Biedronka – the chain opened 181 new stores in Poland and is also expanding its operations on the Slovak market. In their opinion, it brings them considerable income, which has no impact on the situation of the crew, whose income is constantly falling. Therefore, if further negotiations fail, trade unionists do not rule out a nationwide protest.

Trade unionists are not only interested in pay rises

“Solidarity” operating in Biedronka, apart from pay raises and increasing store staffing, also demands the introduction of other changes, including: rewards for attendance at work for store managers in the amount of PLN 500 gross per month, the same amount of monthly allowance for butcher counter employees, the introduction of a permanent staffing of self-service checkouts, a meal voucher for shift workers worth PLN 200 per month, and ensuring the right for trade unions to post information on information boards in the company's facilities.

We asked Biedronka representatives to comment on the trade unionists' demands and the ongoing talks, but we have not received a response so far.
