There will be no coalition? Kaczyński mocks Braun's entourage: There are various lizards there

There is no question of any alliances with the Confederation of the Crown of Poland, the party of MEP Grzegorz Braun, emphasized PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński on Monday. In his opinion, it is a “frivolous” group, created by people who – as he said – should not be in public life.

During Monday's press conference, Jarosław Kaczyński stated that Law and Justice is not considering the possibility of cooperation with Grzegorz Braun's group. He stated that “in an independent and well-governed Poland (…) representatives of one formation will not participate in government.”
Kaczyński about Braun's party: There are various lizards there
– There is no question of any alliances with Braun's party. This is a game, on the one hand, completely frivolous – there are various lizards and the like. I guess I have to say person, because I don't know if it's a person or a lizard, it's hard to say – the PiS president ironized. The PiS president referred to Wojciech Olszański – known on the Internet as “Jaszczur” – the leader of the far-right group “Rodacy Kamraci”, convicted several times for, among others, crimes related to inciting hatred based on nationality and religion. At the end of January, Olszański appeared at the KINGS congress organized by the Confederation of the Crown of Poland.
In Kaczyński's opinion, Grzegorz Braun's group is made up of “people associated with Russia, pro-Russian, pro-Putin” or people who may have – as he said – “some problem” with their mental balance.
People who were in prison accused of spying for Russia – I am talking about a certain (Mateusz) Piskorski and many other people who should not be in Polish public life at all – emphasized Kaczyński.
He accuses Kaczyński of being pro-Russian
In May 2016, the prosecutor's office charged Mateusz Piskorski, a former Self-Defense MP and leader of the “Zmiana” party, with espionage. Piskorski was detained by the Internal Security Agency and taken to custody, where he stayed until 2019, when his trial began and he was allowed to be released on bail. Since then, he has been involved in, among others: in the Russian media, and in 2025 he associated himself with Grzegorz Braun's Confederation of the Polish Crown.
Kaczyński also assessed that PiS's potential cooperation with the Confederation of the Crown of Poland would be “compromising and completely dysfunctional” – The point is to create an independence government in Poland, because today there is a question about Polish independence, but also a very efficient government that will cope in this hellishly difficult situation into which we have been forced by the current governments – he emphasized. – For this, we need people who are responsible, who do not destroy Polish public life, who do not reduce it to the level of – let's just say – some very poor show, some burlesque, taking place for a not very demanding audience. – added the PiS president.
Czarnek did not rule out an alliance with Braun
PiS MP Przemysław Czarnek, referring in Friday's “Rzeczpospolita” to the words of the US ambassador to Poland, Thomas Rose, who stated that “it would be very difficult for America to accept a government with the participation of Grzegorz Braun after the elections”, said that the way the seats in the Sejm will be arranged will be decided by “Polish voters, not the US embassy”. “If it is necessary to form a coalition, it will be determined by the election results. Only after them will we look at who can form a responsible government,” he said.
According to Czarnek, in the coming months it is definitely most likely that the current coalition will stay in place and this government will succeed. “But politics is not only rationality, but also great emotions. We are ready to reverse the situation also in this Sejm and create a coalition with the Confederation – both, as well as with some MPs from PSL and Poland 2050. Everything is possible,” Czarnek said.
Braun's Confederation has crossed “impassable borders”
Jarosław Kaczyński was asked at the beginning of January whether he had ever talked to Grzegorz Braun and whether he considered him a “dangerous politician for Poland.” – I have never talked to him and I consider him to be a politician who has far exceeded the limits that are insurmountable for politicians in our civilization. – replied the PiS president then.
I hope that the Confederation of the Crown of Poland will not be in parliament because they will not exceed the electoral thresholds – he emphasized in January.
He stressed that he was not a supporter of repression, but “this formation should remain on the margins.” – Besides, there are also issues of his various presences in Moscow. There are plenty of reasons to say: “this is the limit,” he said. As he added, PiS will not cross this border.
The latest United Surveys by IBRiS poll for Wirtualna Polska shows that if the parliamentary elections were held at the beginning of February, the Civic Coalition would win (32.3 percent support), PiS would take second place (23.5 percent), and Konfederacja third (11.2 percent). Fourth place in the survey was taken by the Konfederacja Korony Polskiej – the party was chosen by 7.7 percent. respondents. (PAP)
