The measure taken by the IPJ Galati in the case of the policeman who left the firefighter who was going to the fire without a license

Both the policeman and the volunteer fireman went to the same fire, in Drăguşeni commune, Galati county. The policeman fined the firefighter over 3,000 lei and withheld his driver's license, on the grounds that he did not give him priority.
IPJ Galați announced that the policeman who fined a volunteer firefighter, on his way to intervene in a fire, with over 3,000 lei, is under disciplinary investigation.
“The leadership of the Galati County Police Inspectorate analyzed the circumstances of the situation in which a volunteer firefighter, on his way to an intervention, was sanctioned for contravention. In order to clarify all aspects, internal checks were ordered. Following the first checks carried out, by referring to the principles, ethics and deontology of the police profession, the management of the institution ordered the initiation of a preliminary disciplinary investigation against the policeman in question”, they transmitted on Sunday IPJ Galaţi representatives.
Also, the IPJ leadership added that it “regrets the created context and reaffirms the constant concern for compliance with the legal framework, professional responsibility and institutional cooperation, in the interest of citizens”.
Sent to put out the fire, pulled over by a policeman
The case took place on February 3, in Drăguşeni commune, Galati county. Both cars, the SVSU Drăguşeni special vehicle and the police, were going to the same place, to a fire that had broken out at a house in the village of Căuești.
Halfway, the fire truck was caught up by a local police crew. The road was narrow, and the firefighter behind the wheel could not make way for the police, according to local media.
The police stopped a fireman who was going to the same fire and left him without a license, in Galati. As IPJ explains
At that time, the policeman fined the driver for not giving priority to the crew and using the beacon and siren that were not authorized.
“On February 3, 2025, around 3:30 p.m., a crew from Section 5 of the Rădeşti Rural Police, traveling to an event in the village of Căueşti, detected in traffic, on DJ251J, a car driven by a 56-year-old man from the Drăguşeni locality, traveling from the Fundeanu locality to Căueşti,” IPJ Galați reported.
The IPJ also said that the driver “would not have respected the light signals of the police special vehicle, respectively the obligation to stop or facilitate its passage, and would have mounted, in the upper part of the vehicle, two devices with blue lights and a sound device, similar to those used by the police, gendarmerie or ambulance, without having the legal right to use them, according to the 2024 Performance Criteria regarding the establishment, framing and endowment of voluntary services and private services for emergency situations”.
Thus, the 56-year-old man was penalized for contravention with a fine of 3,037.5 lei and with the suspension of exercising the right to drive for 120 days.
