Mayor of Krasnoyarsk Sergey Vereshchagin spoke about how work is going on to find a place for a new city cemetery. According to him, the shortage of cemeteries is one of the city’s pressing issues.

“We also received requests regarding it from you. Badalyk's resource is essentially exhausted. Its borders already abut the new road under construction to Solnechny. And Shinny’s possibilities, of course, are not unlimited. We are considering a site for a new cemetery behind the northeastern industrial hub. These are two free plots, the area is 77 hectares. The city’s request to transfer the land to the appropriate status was satisfied by the regional Ministry of Agriculture,” the mayor wrote in his Telegram channel.

According to him, all the necessary planning documentation is currently being developed. If approved by the City Council, the process should be completed within this year, after which the area will be transferred to city services for the organization of burial sites.

According to experts, the new cemetery will cover the need for 10-12 years.
