The secret of lush flowering: how to fertilize orchids and spathiphyllum for large buds

Indoor plants are increasingly seen not only as an element of the interior, but also as a useful part of the home environment. Many of them help purify the air, reduce dust levels and combat excess humidity. However, even unpretentious species often stop blooming if care is not well thought out.

Owners often face this problem. spathiphyllum and orchids. Despite regular watering and diffused light, plants may not form buds for a long time. According to Gilana Thomas, soil conditions play a key role in this case. The health of the root system and the plant’s ability to flower depend on it.

The expert notes that to maintain the balance of microelements it is not necessary to use purchased fertilizers. The water in which the rice was cooked is suitable as a soft natural top dressing. Both white and brown rice contain beneficial substances that help improve soil structure and root development.

This water can only be used if the following important conditions are met: Rice should be cooked without salt and spices. After preparation, the water must be cooled, poured into a closed container and stored for no more than five days. Before watering, rice water must be diluted – one part of the infusion is mixed with three parts of ordinary water to avoid burning the roots.

It is recommended to feed spathiphyllum and orchids no more than once a month, mainly during the period of active growth – in spring and summer. This method allows you to support plants without overloading the soil and using chemicals.
