PNL Vice President Alexandru Muraru reacted on Wednesday evening to the statement made to HotNews by the Secretary General of the Government, Radu Oprea, who compared the job cuts in SGG to “Auschwitz”. The Liberal calls for his resignation and accuses him of “gross excess of ignorance”.
“In a serious excess of ignorance, the SGG of the Romanian Government, the pesedist Radu Oprea, compared the cutting of 70 posts from the Government's organizational chart to Auschwitz. It has become a frequent habit when uneducated, ignorant and impertinent politicians relativize or insult the memory of the victims of criminal regimes. The list is long. But when you cover your incompetence and populism with a comparison related to the victims of the Holocaust, the only way to correct the culpa it's the resignation”, the PNL vice-president said.
The liberal claims that “for this gesture, Oprea must go” and qualifies the statement as “an insult to the memory of the victims of the Holocaust.
“To compare a minor administrative reduction, in relation to the bloated apparatus of the state, with the largest genocide in modern history, with millions of victims burned in Nazi crematoria, is an insult to the memory of the victims of the Holocaust,” reads Muraru's reaction.
The vice-president of PNL also states that Radu Oprea “has been blocking the signing of public administration reform projects since last summer” and that PSD “effectively blocks any attempt to reduce waste and privileges”.
“While Oprea refuses to sign the cutting of positions in the government structure, public opinion wonders why the measures of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan only affect the citizens, but no real reforms are seen in the state apparatus. Why? Because the PSD effectively blocks any attempt to reduce waste and privileges from the very beginning. It's a classic masquerade, in which PESEDists make noise when it comes to budgets or special pensions, but defend with their teeth the positions and unnecessary expenses in the apparatus. This while yesterday, Prime Minister Bolojan announced a total reduction of expenses by 9,968,676 lei, i.e. -23.7% compared to the previous year. This means real budgetary discipline, not empty words,” he added.
What Radu Oprea said
The reorganization of the Chancellery of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, announced since the summer of last year, which provides for the reduction of the total number of positions from 176 to approximately 105, “could not be implemented until now, as the signing of the reorganization project by the Secretary General of the Government is expected”, the institution headed by Mihai Jurca announced on Wednesday.
Asked by HotNews what job cuts he made last year at SGG, Radu Oprea said that “we did not apply any cuts”.
“I don't cut it. People were only numbers at Auschwitz. I look at people. They left without a scandal, I find formulas, people work, we communicate inside the institution, we receive and tell them and we work together on important projects for the country. I don't work on statistics. People are not costs. I don't have the mentality of a slave owner. I've never had it in my life,” he said.
