Specialists from Rosseti Sibir – Krasnoyarskenergo conducted large-scale raids in the Emelyanovsky municipal district.
In January, at the peak of 40-degree frosts, residents of suburban villages complained of power outages. It turned out that the cause of heavy loads was, among other things, illegal connections to power grids. This was confirmed during the raids, which took place over the course of a week in the villages of Solontsy, Emelyanovo, Drokino, and Elita.
In order to identify and suppress unmetered and non-contractual electricity consumption, specialists checked more than 250 consumers. Among them, 13 cases of non-contractual consumption were identified – these are illegal connections to networks, when consumers, bypassing the official conclusion of a contract, unauthorizedly connect to the network.
Residents who had previously had their electricity supply limited due to debt were also checked. Among them, 6 acts of unauthorized connection to networks were identified and compiled after the introduction of the restriction. The total damage amounted to 2.7 million kilowatt-hours (kWh), which in monetary terms is estimated at 10.6 million rubles.
Specialists from the Krasnoyarsk Electric Networks production department note that most cases were recorded in the village of Solontsy, and the bulk of violators were individuals. During the raids, residents were told about the consequences of interfering with the electricity metering system and illegally connecting to the branch’s networks.
“Electricity fraud not only damages the energy company, but also affects the quality of power supply to conscientious consumers. After all, an illegal connection to the networks of one house can cause problems on an entire street. Our task is to systematically identify and suppress any cases of illegal electricity consumption, ensuring reliable operation of the energy system,” said Anton Lukin, director of the Rosseti Siberia branch – Krasnoyarskenergo.
If you notice that someone is illegally interfering with the operation of the electrical grid complex and consuming electricity without paying for it, report this to the toll-free number of the “Bright Line”: 8-800-220-0-220 (short number – 220).
