The Krasnoyarsk Transport Prosecutor's Office sent a criminal case to court on charges of abuse of power by a former customs employee. This was reported by the press service of the West Siberian Transport Prosecutor's Office.

According to the investigation, in 2024, the leading inspector of the customs clearance and customs control department, using his official powers, including out of personal interest, did not ensure proper customs control over the movement of alcohol, tobacco, perfume and other products from the warehouse to the duty-free store at the Krasnoyarsk airport.

“Arriving at the warehouse, he opened the seals, and then was absent when moving goods from the warehouse of the duty-free store, thereby ensuring the opportunity for employees of the commercial organization to freely seize the goods and dispose of them at their discretion. The illegal actions of the official resulted in the store employees selling the specified goods without paying customs duties, the amount of which amounted to more than 8 million rubles,” the supervisory agency clarified.

Based on this fact, a criminal case was initiated under Part 1 of Art. 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of official powers).

Currently, the Krasnoyarsk Transport Prosecutor's Office has approved an indictment in the case against the ex-customs officer.

The criminal case was sent to the Emelyanovsky District Court for consideration on the merits.
