Recently, as part of the “Trukha Gives Housing” project, displaced persons from the Bakhmut district of the Donetsk region received an apartment: a disabled pensioner Zoya Dmitrievna and her 12-year-old orphan grandson Matvey.
“I hope that living within our own walls will help Zoya Dmitrievna worry less about the future, and Matvey to feel support and stability, because now there is no need to change cities, schools and friends in search of refuge,” notes Maxim Lavrinenko.
The apartment was purchased at the expense of the Trukha Ukraine media group’s own profits. The family has already received the keys to their new home.
In 2022, Zoya Dmitrievna and Matvey were forced to evacuate from their native Seversk due to active hostilities. Their house in the Donetsk region was destroyed. In Kyiv, the family rented housing, spending almost all available funds on it. They had to survive only thanks to payments for internally displaced persons.
About the project “Trash Gives Housing”
The War Victims Home Buying Initiative is now in its third year. In 2024, Kharkov families with children whose houses were destroyed during shelling received apartments. At the end of 2025, the media group purchased a house for a large family of displaced people from the Kharkov region who survived the occupation and lost their housing.
Applications for participation in the program are accepted through the online form: https://bit.ly/4hn1Zec.
The team strives primarily to help people in difficult life circumstances:

- to the families of killed or missing defenders of Ukraine.
Each questionnaire is considered individually.
