Social pensions will be indexed by 6.8% from April 1, this will increase the level of pension coverage for almost 4.3 million people. This was announced by the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation Anton Kotyakov.
The size of indexation of social pensions is annually approved by the government based on the growth rate of the living wage of a pensioner in the Russian Federation over the past year. The draft resolution on the indexation level in 2026 has been posted for public comment.
“Indexation of social pensions is carried out annually on April 1. In 2026 it will be 6.8%. Indexation will increase the level of pension provision for almost 4.3 million pensioners, of which about 3.6 million people are recipients of social pensions and about 700 thousand recipients of state pension provision,” Kotyakov said, as quoted in the press service of the ministry.
Recipients of social pensions are citizens who, due to various circumstances, do not have sufficient work experience to receive an insurance pension, the press service recalled. Citizens whose social pension is less than the subsistence level of a pensioner in the region receive a social supplement, which allows them to increase their pension provision to this level.
Recipients of state pensions are participants in the Great Patriotic War, citizens awarded the badges “Resident of besieged Leningrad”, “Resident of besieged Sevastopol” and “Resident of besieged Stalingrad”, citizens who suffered as a result of radiation or man-made disasters, and members of their families, citizens from among the flight test personnel, the Ministry of Labor explained.
