A large country wants to block a well-known Chinese platform. He wants more control

Lawyers representing the government emphasized that the platform should return to the state before the end of December 2025, when Shein only sold its own brand of clothing. The proposed restrictions would be valid for three months, and their compliance would be supervised by the French internet regulator, Arcom.

The government also demands that the platform implement effective control mechanisms to prevent the sale of illegal products. If the request for a temporary suspension of the marketplace is rejected, the authorities propose freezing the platform, which would mean a ban on accepting new producers.
The case has its roots in events last year, when it was revealed that sex dolls resembling children were being sold on Shein. The government then demanded a three-month suspension of the entire website, but the court of first instance found that this would be a disproportionate punishment.
From January this year the platform is gradually expanding its offer to include products outside the clothing sector, which has raised concerns among the authorities. The judgment of the appellate court in this case will be issued on March 19 this year.
