Together we watch how the All-Russian Spartakiad of the Special Olympics takes place in St. Petersburg – 417 athletes with mental disabilities from 30 regions of the country and Belarus compete with each other and share a positive vibe with us.
The program includes powerlifting, bowling and bocce (ball throwing for accuracy). There are also unified games – special athletes hang out on the same team with partners without developmental disabilities, so that social adaptation is more effective.
Sports, friendship, chewing gum – and everyone will take their award on the podium. There are no winners or losers, because the main goal is to create equal opportunities for everyone.
Many athletes came to St. Petersburg from harsh regions: Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Tomsk, Orenburg, Omsk and Tyumen regions thanks to the “Hometowns” social investment program from Gazprom Neft.
