Scientists have said that the intelligence of the zoomer generation is lower than that of their parents.

Today's young people, members of the Zoomer generation (those born between 1997 and the early 2010s), demonstrate lower cognitive abilities than their parents. Neuroscientist Jared Horvath came to this conclusion based on a large-scale study that spanned 80 countries and 60 years.

As the Saratov 24 TV channel reports, citing a scientist, this is the first generation in history to show a decline in intelligence indicators relative to the previous one. According to Horvath, the reason lies in the over-reliance on digital technologies and online learning.
The study found that zoomers suffered from worsening attention, memory, reading skills, problem-solving abilities, and overall IQ. The scientist explained that the human brain is not evolutionarily adapted to absorb information through short videos and superficial texts. Nature is designed to learn through deep interaction with others and in-depth study of topics.
A neuroscientist argues that being constantly online disrupts the natural biological processes needed for concentration, comprehension and memory. This leads to a paradox: as the total amount of available knowledge increases, the fundamental cognitive skills of the new generation decrease because they rely on “educational technologies” rather than on their own mental efforts.
