Filmed from a helicopter, a driver was left without a license for 8 months and ended up with a hefty fine, in Cluj

The driver was filmed from a helicopter while he repeatedly ignored the traffic laws on Saturday, on national road 1C, in Cluj county, according to News.ro.

In the images filmed from the helicopter that was monitoring the road traffic, you can see how the person behind the wheel repeatedly overtakes on road sections where this maneuver is prohibited.

He was also filmed breaking the solid line on the road including near a pedestrian crossing.

“A driver, a 41-year-old man, from Maramureş county, was caught at around 3:30 p.m., between Câţcau and Dej localities, making four irregular overtakings in an interval of about ten minutes, later being stopped by the crews of the Dej Road Bureau, from the ground. Following the detected violations, contraventional sanctions were applied, consisting of a fine in the amount of 4,860 lei and the suspension of the right to drive for 240 days”, Cluj County Police reported.

Last week, also on DN 1C and also in Cluj county, two drivers received fines of thousands of lei after being filmed from a helicopter while overtaking prohibited.

The police remind all traffic participants that compliance with traffic rules is an essential condition for road safety, and irregular overtaking and aggressive behavior in traffic constitute serious violations that endanger the lives of all traffic participants.
