Meeting of the Prime Ministers of Poland and Ukraine. “The key point is follow-up aid”

“Today's visit of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk to Kiev has once again shown that Poland and Poles are in solidarity with Ukraine. We have devoted a lot of attention to the issue of jointly countering the challenges related to the full-scale invasion of Russia, the effects of which are felt by all of Europe, including Poland. The key point is the continuation of military assistance to counteract Russian terrorist attacks on civilian infrastructure and our cities,” wrote Yulia Svyrydenko in the Telegram messenger.

According to the Prime Minister, ways of quickly rebuilding and ensuring effective protection of Ukraine's energy infrastructure were discussed. Svyrydenko announced that in recent days the first delivery of American liquefied natural gas (LNG) in 2026 has arrived in Ukraine thanks to the cooperation of Ukrainian and Polish energy companies.
“Together we will increase supplies of liquefied gas to ensure Ukraine's energy stability during severe frosts and unprecedented Russian attacks on energy infrastructure,” she noted.
The heads of government discussed practical cooperation in the development of border and logistics infrastructure, increasing the scale and possibilities of connections between Ukraine and Poland. They also drew attention to preparations for the conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine, which will be hosted by Poland this year. The conference will take place in June in Gdańsk.
“We pay special attention to Ukrainians staying in Poland and meeting their needs. Ukrainians have become an important part of Polish society and generate over 2.7 percent of Poland's GDP (according to data from 2024). We are grateful to Poland for supporting our citizens and our state in times of challenges for our common security,” Swyrydenko noted.
Conversations between Tusk and Zelensky
Tusk visited Kiev on Thursday, where he met the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. The Polish Prime Minister's visit takes place during severe frosts, while residents of Ukrainian cities, harassed by constant Russian air raids, are largely deprived of electricity and heating in their homes.
Zelensky and Tusk announced closer cooperation on the development of production and defense technologies. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland declared that he would examine the possibility of supporting Ukrainian soldiers with anti-aircraft weapons.
