The journalist added that arrangements are still being made as to whether other countries in the region will also take part in the negotiations or whether they will take place in a bilateral format.
Where will the US-Iran negotiations take place?
Will other countries take part in the negotiations?
What issues will be discussed during the talks?
What incidents took place in the Arabian Sea?
Earlier on Tuesday, Axios reported that Iran wants to move the talks with the US scheduled for Friday from Istanbul to Oman. According to these reports, the authorities in Tehran also expected that the negotiations would be conducted only in a bilateral format and would concern only nuclear issues.
Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing officials from Washington, that after the US-Iranian incidents in the Arabian Sea, Trump was considering withdrawing the US from participating in the negotiations. On Tuesday, the US armed forces shot down an Iranian Shahed-139 drone there, which – according to US military officials – “aggressively” approached the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, located in neutral waters of the Arabian Sea.
The US has strengthened its military presence in the Middle East in recent weeks. Iran announced that in the event of aggression it would respond by attacking American military installations in the region.
