The Kiev Plan clearly shows that Ukraine hopes to effectively eliminate any possibility of formal international recognition of Russian sovereignty over Crimea or other occupied territories.
Points one and two focus on formulating any peace agreement as being “Rascinated in international law, not in capitulation”with a specific warning about China's possible invasion in Taiwan, according to The Telegraph.
“After the proposal of the United States, other documents have appeared and I think that today, this format, this document, is on the desk of President Trump. Any contradicts our values or our Constitution cannot be part of any agreement,” Zelenski said.
They also underline the importance of clear “security guarantees” as a price for any potential peace agreement that would cause Ukraine to give up Russia, even temporarily.
Point three is an attempt to take control of negotiations from Mr. Trump and bring Ukraine to the center of the peace process.
Romania could be in danger
The fourth point serves as a warning for both the US and NATO, according to which Russia's control over Crimea allows it to threaten not only with attacks on Ukraine, but also on the Allies from the Black Sea, Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria, writes The Telegraph.
The fifth and last point clearly show that Russia should not be allowed to use the agreement to limit the size of the armed forces or the industrial defense base of Ukraine.
Earlier this week, President Zelenski rejected the US proposal to recognize Crimea as Russian.
Thursday, April 24, 2025, Donald Trump reacted to the attack, asking Vladimir Putin to “Stop”.
Steve Witkoff, Trump's emissary, will be on Friday, April 25, in Moscow for his fourth meeting with the Russian president in three months.
