Sergei Vereshchagin presented federal experts with projects for preparing Krasnoyarsk for the anniversary and plans for the city’s development until 2035

Chairman of the state corporation VEB.RF Igor Shuvalov and General Director of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives Svetlana Chupsheva got acquainted with plans for the development of Krasnoyarsk as the geographical center of Russia, which will be implemented as part of the preparation of the city for its 400th anniversary. Projects for large-scale transformation of the regional capital were presented by Mayor Sergei Vereshchagin.

He noted that The program to prepare for the anniversary of Krasnoyarsk includes more than 230 events to modernize social infrastructure and improve things. The city, regional and federal budgets have allocated a total of more than 200 billion rubles for these purposes.
According to Sergei Vereshchagin, the main priorities are the development of the city’s transport framework, reconstruction of public spaces, improvement of main streets, repair of facades and illumination of buildings. Also, the program to prepare the city for the anniversary includes a major overhaul of the Opera and Ballet Theatre, construction of the Surikov Center cultural space and the implementation of the Square of the First project, restoration of 50 cultural heritage sites.
“The main approaches to the development of greater Krasnoyarsk as the geographical center of Russia are supported at the highest level. They are also based on social research and analysis of residents’ initiatives proposed during the development of the strategic master plan until 2035. Its key directions are taken as the basis for preparations for the 400th anniversary. We are already in the active stage of designing and performing work on sites. Large companies are involved in the process, 10 agreements have been concluded with a total investment of about 14 billion rubles, – said Sergei Vereshchagin. “At the same time, it is important, with the support of federal experts, to correctly determine the vector of further development of Krasnoyarsk. The administrative expansion of the city by including new territories and the increase in the number of residents opens up opportunities for agglomeration growth in many areas of the economy.”
The mayor's office said that several areas are among the priorities for cooperation with the VEB.RF group of institutes: updating the master plan and developing new territories of Greater Krasnoyarsk, assistance and support in the development of urban planning documentation and urban development strategies, recommendations for improving the rating and quality of life index.
Let us remind you that Krasnoyarsk will celebrate its 400th anniversary in 2028. By decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, this event was given federal level status. The organizing committee for the preparation and celebration of the anniversary of the capital of the region is headed by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak.
