“The dates of the next trilateral meetings have been set: February 4 and 5 in Abu Dhabii”, Zelenskiy said on X, writes Agerpres, citing the foreign press agency.

The Kiev leader added:

“Ukraine is ready for a substantive discussion and we want the outcome to bring us closer to a real and dignified end to the war.”

A day ago, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Kiev is preparing for meetings “next week” to advance the negotiations, while initially a meeting was scheduled for Sunday in Abu Dhabi.

We remind you that a first round of negotiations took place in Abu Dhabi on January 23 and 24, in the presence of Ukrainian, Russian and American representatives. They were the first known direct negotiations between Kiev, Moscow and Washington based on the American plan to end the war.

In parallel, the Kremlin's emissary for economic issues, Kirill Dmitriev, met on Saturday in Florida with the American special envoy Steve Witkoff, the American Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent, and the son-in-law of the American president, Jared Kushner.

This new meeting, under US mediation, was “constructive”both parties stated, without elaborating on the content of the discussions.

Negotiations to find a diplomatic solution to the conflict triggered by Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 remain very difficult. They are particularly affected by the issue of territories. Russia is demanding, in particular, that Ukrainian forces withdraw from the areas of the Donetsk region that they still control. The Kremlin said on Friday that it was suspending strikes on the capital Kiev until Sunday, February 1, at the request of President Donald Trump, in order to “creates favorable conditions for negotiations”.
