A love between the director and the employee turned into a lawsuit of hundreds of thousands of euros. The man got married in secret

A relationship started in 2014 between DE, employed at a company in Iași, and MG, the company's director, turned into a real financial dispute. In the period 2016-2017, the woman lent her ex-boyfriend 80,000 euros, to which he was to add an interest rate of 10% monthly, notes Ziarul de Iași.

It all started in 2012, when DE, employed at a company in Iasi, met MG, the director of the company. The two started dating in 2014, which seemed to be the beginning of a happy love story.
In 2016, after DE collected compensation for a serious road accident, MG asked him for a loan of 40,000 euros, which is why the woman had no problem refusing him the money. In January 2017, he asked for another 40,000 euros. The two agreed that the total sum of 80,000 euros would be returned after two years, with an interest of 10% per month. In reality, MG paid only half of the interest, and the borrowed money was never returned on time.
DE found out, however, that MG started the relationship with her while he was already involved with another woman, since 2008, and that in 2018 he married her, keeping everything under wraps. This discovery turned the love story into a legal conflict: DE demanded in court the amount borrowed, the outstanding interest and other penalties, ending up claiming more than 250,000 euros.
The woman filed a recorded phone call in 2020, in which MG acknowledged the original debt, although he claimed that the recording had been made without his consent and that the right of action had expired. The judges, however, considered that this evidence was valid and that the statute of limitations did not apply.
The court determined that the interest of 10% per month was void, because it exceeded the legal limits allowed between natural persons, and the principal sum of 80,000 euros had already been paid by MG, so DE no longer had the right to demand the return of the money or the interest. In addition, the woman was forced to pay 6,000 lei in court costs.
From a love story that started with loans and trust, everything turned into a trial of hundreds of thousands of euros, marked by betrayal and painful discoveries. The Tribunal's decision is not final and was appealed by DE, the process will continue at the Court of Appeal.
