A former officer, aged 68, is being investigated by the prosecutors in Cluj-Napoca, after committing, at the end of last year, a sexual assault on a 17-year-old girl.

The representatives of the Public Prosecutor's Office attached to the Cluj-Napoca District Court announced on Saturday that a man is being investigated for committing the crime of sexual assault on a minor.
“In the charge of the defendant, it was noted that, on 04.12.2025, approximately between 15:30 – 16:19, being on the upper floor of the residence located in the town of Gârbău, Cluj county, taking advantage of the position of authority held in relation to the victim, he committed, by coercion and making it impossible to defend himself or to expresses the will, acts of a sexual nature on the minor injured person, aged 17”stated the representatives of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Cluj-Napoca Court, News writes.
The prosecutors considered that the crime was one of particularly high gravity, ”considering the fact that the defendant, a former senior officer, an educated person, aged 68, who did not have a pre-existing personal relationship with the minor, exploited the significant difference in age, social status and position of authority held to create a favorable framework for committing sexual aggression, in which sense the set of evidence administered outlines including the author's recourse to mechanisms of psychological manipulation specific to the grooming phenomenon”.
The man was detained for 24 hours, being presented to the court with a proposal for preventive arrest.
The Cluj-Napoca Court rejected this proposal and decided that the man should be placed under house arrest for 30 days.
