Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian on Saturday accused the leaders of the United States, Israel and European countries of exploiting Iran's economic problems, inciting social unrest and providing the population with the means to “break the nation” during the recent protests.

Pezeszkian stated that the leaders of the mentioned countries “provoke, create division and provide resources, drawing some innocent people into this movement.”
In the last days of December, protests sparked by the economic crisis broke out in Iran and were brutally suppressed by the authorities. After a short time, the demonstrations took on an anti-government character.
According to the US-based human rights group HRANA, at least 6,563 people have been killed so far, including 6,170 protesters and 214 security officers. Other sources say as many as 36.5 thousand. fatalities. In turn, Iranian foreign minister Abbas Aragchi told CNN Turk that 3,100 people died, including 2,000. officers.
US President Donald Trump supported the demonstrators and announced that his country was ready to take action if Iran did not stop killing protesters and abandon its nuclear program. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) was recognized on Thursday by the foreign ministers of the EU countries as a terrorist organization.
According to Pezeshkan, Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and European leaders “took them to the streets and wanted to (…) tear this country apart, sow conflict and hatred among people and create division.”
The commander of the Iranian army, General Amir Hatami, noted on Saturday that the nuclear technology acquired by Iran cannot be “eliminated, even if scientists and sons of the nation die as martyrs.” (PAP)
