Seven Greek supporters who were traveling through Romania on their way to Lyon for the match in the single group of the Europa League lost their lives in a road carnage that happened in Timiș county, on the European road E70, near the town of Lugojel. Two of the injured PAOK fans were transferred by a special plane to the country, while the third survivor remained hospitalized in Timișoara.
The tragedy occurred on Tuesday afternoon, after the minibus coming from Greece and traveling to France engaged in an overtaking near the town of Lugojelul, at the entrance to the Lugoj belt, and when trying to return to its lane, it collided with a tanker, then it was projected in the opposite direction, where it collided with a truck.
“It's a miracle he survived, but he doesn't remember anything!”
The terrible collision caused seven supporters of Răzvan Lucescu's team to lose their lives, and three of them ended up in the hospital (none are in danger anymore), including there is a young man who escaped as if by a miracle, as declared by the Greek doctors who arrived at the University Hospital of Timișoara.
“80 hours after the serious road accident in Timiș county, which terribly affected the club and left the PAOK family in mourning, taking the lives of seven “eagles”, the three surviving fans continue to fight for physical and mental recovery”, reports Sportal.gr.

The 20-year-old fan's grandfather spoke to a Greek TV station about his condition
According to Papageorgiou Hospital surgeon Kostas Fortounis, one of the two injured who returned to Greece seems to know nothing about what happened to him. “His grandfather, who spoke on Live News, described his grandson's condition with a trembling voice, expressing the family's distress but also relief,” the quoted publication wrote.
“The child is already in Thessaloniki. He hasn't spoken yet, neither have his parents. Thank God he is ok and we hope everything goes well. He needs time and a relative recovery”, said the 20-year-old's grandfather.
The fan hospitalized in Timișoara, extubated after a new operation
He confirmed that his nephew had suffered a blow to the head, calling it “a miracle” that he survived, even though he can't remember anything about the road accident!
As for the condition of the patient who remained in Romania and could not be transported to Greece, the doctors announced that, after the operation he underwent, he no longer needs assistance from the devices. He is now breathing normally and has been extubated.

“The operation was deemed necessary due to swelling in the neck and to avoid possible complications. The entire procedure was completed successfully and the injured supporter is now in a better condition.
“As a precautionary measure, he remains in an intensive care unit under the supervision of doctors, while his return to the country will take place by plane, when doctors deem him fit to travel,” announced gazzetta.gr.
