Former junior international Amet Enghin (33 years old), charged with robbery and sentenced to a suspended prison term, he reacted to GSP.ro and explained, from his perspective, what happened, denying the accusations against him and claiming that he is innocent.

The local press in Constanța wrote this week about the case of the former junior from the Romanian U19 national team, Amet Enghin, who allegedly attacked a drug dealer who no longer wanted to send him the goods he had already paid for.

Amet Enghin and another person were accused of stealing from the victim a Xiaomi MI 10T PRO mobile phone and the sum of 580 lei, the value of the damage being approximately 1,500 lei. In response to GSP.ro, Enghin claimed that, on the contrary, he was the one whose money was stolen.

Amet Enghin's reaction after being accused of robbery

“I would like to tell you that it is somewhat false, 80 percent of what is written in that article. I did not rob anyone, on the contrary: the individual stole 200 lei from me.

I gave 200 lei to an individual to take something from me, and that individual ran away with my money. After 4 days I met him somewhere and told him to give me my money back. He said no, and I hit him. When I hit him, his phone jumped, and the guy next to me took his phone, and so, with my money, I ended up being the one accused.

Basically, it's my fault that I shouldn't have ended up in such poses myself, but that's it. I'm home, thank you, and that individual was convicted of drug trafficking, 4 1/2 years. That's the story”, said Amet Enghin, for GSP.ro.

  • Amet Enghin was one of Romania's promising players, participating in Euro U19 in 2011, in the team of the then coach Lucian Burchel. The Constantinian was part of the generation of the current captain of the first national team, Nicolae Stanciu.
