In Krasnoyarsk, from January 30 to February 1, the Championship and Championship of the Siberian Federal District in sports dances is being held. 814 couples from 9 regions of Siberia – from Altai to Khakassia – were registered to participate. The youngest participants are 7 years old, the oldest couple is 20.
Competitions are held in three disciplines: European program (slow waltz, tango, Viennese waltz, foxtrot, slow foxtrot, quickstep), Latin American program (samba, cha-cha-cha, rumba, paso doble), and double-event. 47 judges assessed the couples on the technique of performing dance figures and elements – they must be combined with musical accompaniment and reflect the nature of the music. An important criterion is the correspondence of the image (costume, makeup) to the dance being performed.
The championship and championship of the Siberian Federal District in Krasnoyarsk are unique in that for the first time they are held according to the new rules of the World Dance Council. These rules include updated standards for costume design, judging and other criteria.
“The Siberian Federal District is represented today by the strongest pairs. The competition is serious. Still, this is a serious start – a ticket to the Championship and the Russian Championship. Preparations for it began long before arrival,” noted Tatyana Avershina, head of the Respect dance club from Novoaltaisk.
As the coaches of the participants note, one of the key keys to victory is teamwork. Specialists select suitable partners who are equal in level of training. Personal relationships also play a role – friendly couples coordinate movements better.
As Nadezhda Erastova, president of the All-Russian Federation of Dance Sports, Breaking and Acrobatic Rock and Roll (FTSARR), said, the selection takes place in all federal districts.
“Only the strongest will be able to get a ticket to the Russian Championship, because only the best athletes will be able to represent our country in the international sports arena,” added Nadezhda Erastova.
Hosting a tournament of this level is considered prestigious in dance sports. That’s why the competitions in Krasnoyarsk brought together elite dancers from all over the Siberian Federal District. 1000 winners from different regions will have a chance to join the Russian national dance team.
