“The table covered with the delights of Jewish cuisine attracted the attention of the journalists of federal channels who covered this festival on television. In general, Birobidzhan chefs won the hearts of gourmets. And Jewish cuisine received the highest marks from the jury.”
The article by Viktor Dmitriev, “We’ll soon drink our own mineral water,” says that for the first time in the history of the Jewish Autonomous Region, a large deposit of mineral water, discovered in 1999 in the village of Bira, Obluchensky district, was put up for competitive bidding.
“The story of the discovery of a deposit of the Birsk mineral water is interesting. A well was drilled in this place to get to underground ordinary drinking water. By mistake, the well was drilled much deeper, and the drill “accidentally” reached a mineral spring. If a plant for bottling “Narzan” is built on it, then not only all residents of the Jewish Autonomous Region, but also neighboring regions can be given plenty of water to drink from it.”
