Tesla is discontinuing Model S and Model X and refocusing on humanoid robots

The automobile portal classified these two models as among the most influential in the company.

According to Musk, production of Model S and Model X in California will end in the next quarter. The Fremont plant will be retooled to produce Optimus humanoid robots, and Tesla plans to reach a long-term goal of producing up to 1 million units per year.

Musk stressed that the company will continue to support S and X owners, but the focus is shifting to autonomous technologies and new areas of development.

Context

Musk has repeatedly called the humanoid robot Optimus potentially the “biggest product of all time” and even stated that the robot could become an “incredible surgeon.” The Tesla owner believes that Optimus and autonomous driving will help create a world without poverty, where everyone has access to the best medical care. The company planned to demonstrate the new V3 version in the first quarter of 2026.
