The new attraction will be part of the Dubai Gold District, a project officially announced by the Dubai Media Office on January 27, 2026. According to the authorities, the street will be “built using gold”, although the exact details of how it will be achieved have not yet been made public. Also, the opening date has not been announced.

Dubai Gold District is a transformation of the current Gold Souk, one of the city's oldest and most popular shopping areas. About 1,000 merchants specializing in the sale of gold and jewelry operate here, and the area is a tourist attraction, reports Euronews.

According to the Dubai Media Office, the UAE is the second largest physical gold trading center globally, exporting $53.41 billion worth of gold in 2024–2025.

“Gold is deeply rooted in the cultural and commercial fabric of Dubai, symbolizing our heritage, prosperity and entrepreneurial spirit. Through this iconic destination, we are not only celebrating this heritage, but reimagining it for a new era, defined by creativity and sustainability,” said Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, part of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.

Dubai is known for its spectacular tourist attractions, such as Burj Khalifa – the tallest building in the world, Ain Dubai – the largest observation wheel, or Deep Dive Dubai – the deepest diving pool in the world.

In 2024, the city also inaugurated a climate-controlled street, where it “rains” every 30 minutes, on the island of Heart of Europe, part of the artificial archipelago The World Islands.

Authorities also announced an ambitious project called the “future loop,” a two-kilometer, fully air-conditioned pedestrian bridge designed to connect key areas of the city and make Dubai accessible to pedestrians all year round, even during summers with temperatures of up to 45 degrees Celsius.

Outside of Dubai, Fujairah recently attracted attention with the inauguration of a music road. The asphalt grooves produce vibrations that reproduce Beethoven's “Ninth Symphony” when cars drive over them.
