January 30 8:07

A freight train fatally injured a 47-year-old man near Elovka station on the Snezhnitsa – Kacha section of the western direction Krasnoyarsk railway.

It all happened on January 29th. According to preliminary data, the pedestrian was crossing the tracks outside the crossing and did not react to the appearance of the train that had left a curved section of the track where visibility was limited.

“The driver applied the emergency brake, but failed to avoid a collision with the person. The man received injuries incompatible with life,” the Siberian transport police said.

Currently, all the circumstances and reasons for what happened are being established. Eastern Interregional Investigation Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation conducts an inspection for signs of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic safety rules and operation of railway transport, resulting in death by negligence). Based on the results, a procedural decision will be made.

Law enforcement officers also remind about the danger of being on railway tracks, especially in areas where visibility is limited in at least one direction: “The railway is a high-risk zone. Violating the rules of conduct near it poses a threat to human life and health. It is necessary to cross the tracks only in places designated for this purpose, after reliably making sure that there is no approaching train and that there is a traffic light permitting signal.”
