Lawyer, member of PNL Sector 1, caught red-handed by the DNA while receiving a 60,000 euro bribe. A fake general SIE, detained in the same file

A lawyer, a member of the PNL Sector 1 organization, was caught in the act on Wednesday by the prosecutors of the National Anticorruption Directorate, while receiving a 60,000 euro bribe, judicial sources told Digi24.ro, News.ro and Adevărul. A man who falsely claimed to be a general of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SIE) was also detained with her.
According to the cited sources, it is about Adriana Georgescu, a lawyer and member of the PNL Sector 1 organization. The same sources stated that the man who presented himself as General SIE is not an employee of the Foreign Intelligence Service.
The two are accused of influence peddling and were taken to the headquarters of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA).
The investigators claim that they claimed, in total, the sum of 500,000 euros, promising legal interventions and various authorities.
According to the DNA, between October and December 2025, Adriana Georgescu asked for money from the businessman Jean-Paul Tucan, claiming that she could intervene for the favorable resolution of some criminal cases pending before the DNA or the Bucharest Court, but also the completion of some contracts or employment in national companies subordinate to the Government. Moreover, she told the businessman that she had connections in DNA, in the Presidential Administration and that she could reach “directly” the head of DNA, Marius Voineag, the anti-corruption prosecutors also say.
The man who claimed to be a SIE general was detained by DNA prosecutors, according to sources cited by G4Media.ro.
The reaction of PNL Sector 1 and the Bucharest Liberal Women's Organization
PNL Sector 1 stated on Wednesday that Adriana Georgescu is not an advisor of the branch and does not hold any management or representation position within the organization.
“PNL Sector 1 will strictly comply with the statutory and legal provisions, and as soon as there is an official statement from the National Anticorruption Directorate, Ms. Adriana Georgescu will be suspended as a member of the National Liberal Party, according to internal procedures,” PNL Sector 1 said.
Also, the organization Femeilor Liberale București conveyed that Adriana Georgescu is not and was not the president of this organization and does not hold any management position within it.
“Any association between the current leadership of the Bucharest Liberal Women's Organization and Ms. Adriana Georgescu is false, it aims either to create an erroneous image of the organization, an image that does not correspond to reality, or aims to create attractive headlines in the press,” states the press release signed by Cristina Ivanovici, the president of the organization.
Until this moment, DNA has not issued an official statement regarding the case.
